In Okinawa, ikigai does not describe ambition or achievement Instead it Encompasses all that bring life true meaning— Such as family, community, craft, land, and ritual.

Course Structure

Module 1: Honoring Place — Anchoring Where You Are

  • Explore your relationship with the land, home, and environment you inhabit.

  • Practices of gratitude and connection to place.

  • Purpose begins with belonging to where you are.

Module 2: Rhythm and Daily Life

  • Discover how meaning is made in ordinary rhythms.

  • Purpose is not only grand vision, but the daily practice of living well.

  • Rituals, nourishment, rest, and creativity as expressions of ikigai.

Module 3: Gifts and Medicine

  • Identify your unique contributions — skills, values, artistry, and ways of caring.

  • Explore what you love, what you’re good at, and what sustains you.

  • Clarify your “medicine bundle” for yourself and others.

Module 4: Community and Service

  • Place your gifts in relationship with others.

  • Explore how service, reciprocity, and interdependence bring purpose to life.

  • What you give becomes part of what you receive.

Module 5: Becoming an Ancestor

  • Reflect on legacy: how you want to be remembered, what values you want to pass on.

  • Ethical wills, blessings, letters to future generations.

  • Living today in a way that blesses tomorrow.

Module 6: Living Your Purpose

  • Integration is not just review — it’s the recognition that your ikigai is already here, woven into daily life, place, relationships, gifts, and legacy.

  • This module celebrates the journey and affirms that purpose is the ongoing practice of living fully.

  • Culminates in ritual or ceremony: stepping into your life as the embodiment of ikigai.
